Registration:

Registration is open.
Early registration will close September 30
Late registration closes October 13

Team registration is $300
Late entry incurs a fee of $75

There are 3 steps to registering:
1) Register your team details via google docs.
2) Pay via paypal or check.
3) Send in USACK waiver.

1) To register, send an email to info@losangeleskayakclub.com.  We will share a google doc spreadsheet with you so you can enter all your teams information.  This will remain editable to you (and anyone you choose to share it with) right up until the competition.  We hope in this way to have the most current information at the tournament.  We will go to print with the event booklet approximately one week prior to the competition.

The registration page will help you work out your team's due amount, including USACK event memberships ($10 per non-member) and the Saturday night banquet tickets ($20 each.)

If you are an individual looking for a team, you can sign up here and we will help you find a team.

2) To pay, send the due amount via paypal to info@losangeleskayakclub.com or send a check to:

Katherine Macey
715 Gayley Ave #514
Los Angeles, CA 90024

Registration will not be deemed complete until payment is received.

3) Send USACK waiver.
Download USACK waiver, have your team sign it and send it in.  If you don't do this part, your registration process will be significantly slower when you get here.  Send to:

Katherine Macey
715 Gayley Ave, #514
Los Angeles, CA 90024

Division Rules:

The following are the official rules of the USACK canoe polo committee (USCPC) for the national championship tournament:

"Basic club membership criteria" is generally defined as players who regularly play together. Additionally:

A player who once regularly played with a club, but moved away, may compete with that club; and

A player with no local club in a division may play with any club, so long as this would not clearly disadvantage another team

A "US Club Team" is one in which all competitors are US Citizens, Permanent Residents, or hold a current work or student visa for the US, and who meet the basic club membership criteria.

A "Non-US Club Team" includes one or more non-US residents and/or includes one or more players who do not meet basic club membership criteria.

Questions regarding players or teams meeting eligibility requirements should be referred to the USCPC.  The USCPC reserves the right to declare a team a Non-US Club Team at any time for failure to conform to US Nationals rules.

Categories Rules
Division A Open to teams wishing to play at the highest level.  Both US Club Teams and Non-US Club Teams may enter.  All teams have equal opportunity of reaching the final, however, only US Club Teams are eligible for the title of US National Champion. If a Non-US Club Team reaches the final, the National Championship is won by the highest placed US Club Team.
Division B Open to teams who meet the same eligibility requirements as for Division A but who feel they are not up to a standard of play to be competitive with the teams in Division A. The local organizing committee will let teams assess their own ability, but reserves the right to move a team up to Division A level if they are of an appropriate standard.
Women Open to all-female teams that meet the same eligibility requirements as for Division A.  The  same team placement rules as Division A for US National Champion also apply.
Junior (U21) Open to any team in which all players have a 21st birthday on or after January 1 of the current year, and who meet the same eligibility requirements as for Division A.

Players may compete for a maximum of two teams. No player may compete in both Division A and Division B.
Divisions A and B are open to women and juniors.
All entries are subject to the organizer's review. At least three entries in a division are required for that division to be accepted into the competition. All efforts will be made to give each team at least six games during the competition (this will depend on the level of entries).

Venue:

Hansen Dam Aquatic Center
11798 Foothill Blvd, Lake View Terrace, CA 91342 (map)

The venue is the same as the 2003 nationals. There will be 2 pitches in a long, shallow pool, and there will be warm-up areas either at the end of the pool or in the adjacent recreation lake. There is ample free parking at the venue. The pool is in a large open area with grass and gravel/sand. There are some trees and structures for shade, but there is not much shelter. The weather is usually good in October, however, rain and cold weather is possible. The water will probably be cold. There are open-air showers, and many bathrooms. There is no hot water. We can store boats at the venue overnight.

Food vendors will be available on site.

~~~~~~~
Weather and conditions:
10 day forecast as of Oct 19 says:
Sunny all 3 days, highs in the low-mid 80's and overnight lows in the high 50's.  Bring your hats and sunscreen.
The weather is usually good in October, however, rain and cold weather is possible. The water will probably be cold.
Air temperatures: Average high/low 75 F / 59 F (Records: 93 F/48 F)
Average rainfall: 0.4 inches.
Average wind speed is 2.7 mph in an Easterly direction.
Accommodations:
Our recommendation for a reasonable option is:
Country Side Inn,
14955 Roxford Street, Sylmar, CA  91342.
http://www.countrysideinnsylmar.com/
This hotel is about 7 -8 minutes drive north of the venue just off the 210 freeway.  It is in a nicer neighborhood than in the immediate vicinity of the venue.
Other slightly cheaper options available closer to the venue in less salubrious neighborhoods are:
Villa Las Palmas
10225 San Fernando Road,
Pacoima, CA 91331
Phone: (818) 899-6446
Jay Motel
10601 San Fernando Rd,
Pacoima, CA 91331
(818) 899-3759
Camping:
Camping is available at the venue for $20 per person for both Friday and Saturday nights. We have enough people signed up for camping.
Camping is not available at the venue on Thursday night due to costs.  The closest camping currently available is at Castaic Lake.  Other local sites are currently closed due to fire or fire hazard.
Facilities:
There are only cold, outdoor showers available at the venue.
There is NO alcohol allowed at the venue.
There are many small restaurants and a small grocery store available within 5 minutes drive of the venue.
In and out access after hours needs to be arranged with security as the gates are locked.
~~~~~~~

Banquet:

A banquet will be held on Saturday night after games at approximately 6 pm at the Fairways Restaurant and Tavern.  Cost will be $20 - menu coming shortly.  We are working on having some of the Kern River Brewing Co's beer there (Eric and Rebecca Giddens' company.)
